Choosing a Topic

Your project will be to use PowerPoint to present a particular concept, or idea. You must draw your topic from a class that you are currently enrolled in this semester. You will need to get approval from me before beginning any work.

To begin the topic proposal process, you will need to decide which class you are going to use as a focus. From there, you will decide on a topic from the information being presented in that class.0

Take the time for careful consideration of your topic. Keep in mind that you will be required to use standard resources, (books, magazines, periodicals, etc.) as well as Internet resources for research, and be able to site those resources correctly in MLA format.

Outline

You will begin your project by brain storming on your topic and by using the program called Inspiration.

You will need to begin with an outline of your presentation. Use the outline view in PowerPoint to enter the topics and sub-topics of your presentation. Don't forget to include your Title Slide, Table of Contents, and Bibliography slides. Remember, an outline is the basic information only. Don't go into great detail on an outline - there shouldn't be any complete sentences, words or short phrases only! I will be giving you a due date to turn in a print-out of your Outline View. This must be handed in and checked off by me before continuing. I may be asking you questions about your outline, giving other directions, or asking you to include more information. When your outline is complete and approved, the writing process for your script begins.

Step two is the writing process to produce your script. At this stage, you will be writing out the information you will be presenting. Scripts will be created using a Word Processing application. Use your outline as a guide, and develop your topics and sub-topics in a complete manner. Stick to the topic and be organized in your writing. Be sure that you spell-check and proofread before turning anything in for review or grading. Upon completion of your writing, you will need to submit your document to me for review. Again, I may ask you to make additions, corrections, deletions, or changes. The finished product for this stage will be the script you have in hand when you are actually giving your presentation.
